About The Custom Coach

My story is common. I left high school and a very successful tenure in organized sports. I entered into the next phase of my life, a career and a much more sedentary life style. Before long my weight ballooned from 170lbs. to 220lbs. For years I struggled with it, yo-yoing. At a time when I was about to give up I started researching nutrition. I thought I would give it one last shot so I changed my diet as well as my eating habits. This time it was working. I immediately felt better and more energized. With my new shape and attitude I started biking. It was mainly a recreational getaway. I biked for fun, I biked to clear my head, and by accident I rode myself into shape. Good enough shape to complete a sprint triathlon. That day changed my life. The feelings of self-fulfillment and accomplishment were intoxicating. It is these feelings that I want to make possible for others. I am an average person, but I have above average training. In a short time I’ve been able to go from just wanting to complete a race to qualifying for the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii. Now in my 40’s I’m not slowing down but getting faster each time out. How exciting is that? Being married with a career, I understand how hard it is to juggle and maintain a balanced life but it can be done and it is very worth while. Endurance athletes are some of the best people on the planet and well worth getting to know. The positive energy that is handed out at races is truly giving me the best time of my life.

Sincerely

Steve Watkins
